$1000 to Get Hair and Nails Done: "God Made it That Way" says John Gray

A wife should be given $1000 from her husband to get her hair and nails done because God made it that way. Who would even dare assert something like that? What venue would allow such a speaker?

T.D. Jakes held MegaFest 2017 and had John Gray as a speaker. Gray is an associate pastor at Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church. Osteen is author of Your Best Life Now, so it's not a stretch to believe the associate pastor under Osteen could tell all of Christendom that God wants a husband to give his wife $1000 to get her hair and nails done.

T.D. Jakes posted this video of John Gray speaking at MegaFest 2017.

What kind of world are these people living in where you just toss $1000 at your wife to get her hair and nails done? This points to the excess of their lifestyle, often at the fleecing of their own flock and followers. All done in the name of Jesus of course.

Paul wrote to the Corinthians about how he was hungry, thirsty, poorly clothed, and homeless.

To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless, and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; when slandered, we entreat. We have become, and are still, like the scum of the world, the refuse of all things.
— 1 Corinthians 4: 11-13

What advice would he have given to the Corinthian church?

Greetings my dear fellow believers; some of us might be poorly dressed, hungry and homeless, but nonetheless, husbands be sure to spend a few bucket loads of denarii so your wives can get their nails and hair done. God made it that way.

Yours truly, The Apostle Paul
— 1 Hesitations 1: 9

Messages like these promoted by T.D. Jakes and John Gray grossly misrepresent Christianity. Instead of crucifying the flesh, they feed it mammon on steroids.

A Manifesto of Christian Discernment

Life is Too Short for Boring Sex

Heath Mooneyham of Ignite "Church" has good news to tell the world. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with Jesus Christ and Him crucified for our sins. The good news that Mooneyham has to share is that Communication + Commitment = Intimacy and that equation is the secret to overcoming boring sex. We had no idea that one of the fruit of the Spirit is 'spicy sex' and the reason we were unaware of that is because the Bible doesn't teach this.

"The Sexy Gimmick Apostle"-Jeremy Gibbons Goes Full Throttle Sex in the City

Self described "apostle" Jeremy Gibbons has decided to go full throttle "Sex in the City", as he dresses down the taboo topic of sex for the month of February.

God apparently needs help and manmade additions to the means he's given to the church for the conversion of the unregenerate. The first apostles were not aware of the need for sexy gimmicks, so good thing "apostle" Gibbons came along to be God's wingman.

Sex Doesn't Have to Be Grey?!?

If you love sex then you're in for a real treat this weekend at Ignite "Church".  Heath Mooneyham, the pastor who was busted for a DUI and restored to ministry in a few short weeks, will be teaching everyone at Ignite how sex doesn't have to be grey.

Below is Ignite's promo video and Facebook post for the sermon. Note: they want people to share this video with their unsaved friends so they'll come to church on Sunday so that Mooneyham can teach them about sex.

Pastor Dykstra Will Teach You How to Date, Mate and Procreate

Eric Dykstra, the vision-casting leader of The Crossing Church will be teaching the people at The Crossing how to date, mate and procreate. Oh goody.... :-/

One has to wonder if Dykstra is an expert on dating, mating and procreating (we pray the sermons aren't illustrated). One thing is certain, he's no expert on rightly handling God's Word and preaching Christ. Here's the promo video that The Crossing put together for this "ground breaking" sermon series.

Warning: You can never unsee this video once you watch it.

Hillsong Lead Pastor Promotes F-Bomb T-Shirt

Hillsong Church lead pastor (and model/clothing company owner) Esther Houston has a video on her YouTube Channel with a model wearing a t-shirt with the f-bomb, as seen in the video below. Esther Houston appears in the video right after the "F-bomb" t-shirt model.

The Hillsong Church website clearly describes her as a lead pastor:

Does this need further explanation? Has your lead pastor ever been associated with models wearing expletives? Doesn't anyone at Hillsong have enough decency to realize this is setting a bad example? In truth, it seems that some Hillsong Pastors have a very worldly version of decency. See: Disgusting Hillsong Santa Has a "Package" for You

“Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments; but rather by means of good works, as befits women making claims of godliness.”

— 1 Timothy 2: 9-10

The Museum of Idolatry previously covered another concerning issue with Hillsong lead pastor Esther Houston regarding their direct URL linking to her sexually sensual modeling page directly from the Hillsong website. On top of that, Esther Houston has been known to post inappropriate photos on Instagram (and then delete them when confronted):

Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness
— James 3: 1

There is simply no excuse for any of this. The leadership needs to ask God to grant them repentance, and anyone who is a part of the Hillsong Church "ministry" should seriously consider finding a church that values the things of God more than the things of this world. The inappropriate behavior of "Pastor" Esther Houston is just the tip of the iceberg: Hillsong has a long history of false teaching, manipulation and abuse. If you think that's an exaggeration, please read the extensive information in the links below.

“Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world-the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life-is not from the Father but is from the world.”— 1 John 1: 15-16
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what it the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. ”— Romans 12: 1-2
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God.”— 1 Thessalonians 4: 3-5

One last thought:

We at Pirate Christian Media are not interested in simply getting web hits to increase numbers (and thus post controversial things like this to get more views). We are very concerned that gigantic, corrupt media empires like Hillsong, need to be exposed, and the Evangelical Industrial Complex will not do it. Most of the so-called "trusted leaders" within Evangelicalism want to look the other way and pretend everything is okay.

Posting these kinds of lewd stories is not fun for us, and we certainly don't intend to cause more people to stumble by posting questionable photographs and/or videos.  But if nobody exposes these things, they will only get worse. We feel it's necessary to put this stuff in people's faces (so to speak) in order to shake people up.

Hillsong Website Links to Lusty Esther Houston Website

We just posted an article about the lewd photograph that was posted on "Pastor" Esther Houston's Instagram. She quickly removed that photo, but we've discovered that this is just a regular part of "Pastor" Houston's life, it seems. She did this same thing about a year ago; see Now You See Her Now You Don't. She's accustomed to posting sexy pictures of herself, and her "church" is directly supporting this activity.

Hillsong Church has a biography page for Esther Houston, and it directly links to her MISSWHOO webpage containing photos that could lead many into temptation. You've been warned.

In case you think this woman isn't really considered a pastor, below is a screenshot of the official Hillsong website. Notice how Hillsong describes Esther as someone who is "redefining modern day misconceptions. " Hmmm...

Below is a sampling from the Miss Whoo website and Houston's clothing store website: Houston Graeff.

Here are a few screenshots from a video on Esther Houston's YouTube channel where a model is wearing a t-shirt with the "F" word clearly written across the front:

Jesus instructed us to pray not to be lead into temptation. Scripture continually calls us to run away from sexual lust. Why is Hillsong Church linking to a site that can very easily provoke those sinful passions? Why is Hillsong Church sending the clear message to young women that it's okay to use your body as a sexually alluring object? How bad do things have to get before the Hillsong empire will be exposed as not really a church at all, but as the multi-million dollar corporate entity that it actually is??

Is it any surprise that Esther Houston is a "co-pastor" with Carl Lentz?

Disgusting Hillsong Santa Has a "Package" For You

Hillsong Pastor Diego Simila (also known as the Naked Cowboy) has shown up again in a disgusting "costume" at a Christmas party for Hillsong's Pastrix Esther Houston. Houston thought it would be a good idea to post this on Instagram (it was removed within a few hours of this article being posted). This photo looks like it came from a drug dealer party or something, but it didn't: this is the culture of some of the leaders at Hillsong:

Here's an article about this from ChurchWatch Central: Simila's Comeback: Hillsong's Naked Santa Puts Hillsong's Naked Cowboy to Shame

Here's another article from Pulpit and Pen: Hillsong's Naked Cowboy is Back-Except Now It's Naked Santa!

We expect the staff at Hillsong to pretend that this didn't happen, then to admit it happened but it's not a big deal (because we don't understand their version of "fun") and then we expect Hillsong to turn this into a story about how their critics are too harsh and negative (and jealous) and take things "out of context." But seriously, is this what Christian pastors should be doing??

"Pastor" Esther Houston has no problem at all with posting sexy pictures of herself. In fact, Hillsong Church links directly to her seductive website full of sexy photos, where you can also find her clothing for sale. We are not making this up! Read about it here: Hillsong Website Links to Lusty Esther Houston Website.

Seductive Sensuality at Church by the Glades

Do you go to Sunday worship service to be sensually seduced? By a female singer dressed kinda like a witch? During a special "sermon series" about Harry Potter?? Church by the Glades has earned their way onto the Museum of Idolatry yet again. Their opener I Put a Spell on You with a Harry Potter theme has a sensual seductive tone.

Sensually scampering down the catwalk.

Sensual shoulder shimmies with webbed cleavage. This woman is obviously made up and dressed to look like a witch (or something like that) as she sings "I put a spell on you." Is this really a good idea for a church service??

Jesus told us to ask not to be lead into temptation, but Church by the Glades seems to think differently. Jesus told us not to imitate the world, but Church by the Glades does it each and every Sunday.

It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God.
— 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
— Romans 12:1-2

The Naked Cowboy: He's a Hillsong Pastor?!

Pastor Ben Houston on stage with fellow pastor and "naked cowboy" Diego Simila

Pastor Ben Houston on stage with fellow pastor and "naked cowboy" Diego Simila

The big story last week was about the "naked cowboy" appearing at a Hillsong women's conference in New York. The "naked cowboy" (who actually has underwear/briefs on) turns out to be a Hillsong youth pastor. In case you don't know, the "naked cowboy" is a real character who walks around Times Square in New York City. So it appears that the staff at Hillsong thought it would be funny for someone to portray that guy on stage at this woman's conference. Once again, Hillsong has been caught on camera doing something questionable and inappropriate, but we're supposed to trust them and not believe what we can see with our own eyes. Dr. Michael Brown, the very respected and scholarly Charismatic leader said this:

Yes, Dr. Brown, it's accurate. Are you gonna ignore this obvious and blatant example of charismatic worldliness-you know, just like you normally do?? Here's an article from the great researchers at Church Watch Central that fills in the details of this situation: Church Watch Central

Redeeming Sex or Confusing Everyone About Sex?

Watch this confusing video of Deb Hirsch talking about her book (from Christian publisher InterVarsity) called "Redeeming Sex" and see if it makes any sense to you:

Okay, now that you've watched this, can you figure out what she's actually talking about? Based on the confusing things she said while promoting her book, maybe she will need to write another book to explain what this one is about.

Hirsch says, "One of the first things the church needs to do, and realize, is that every human (doesn't matter what age you are)... male/female, gay/straight, no matter who you are... we are profoundly sexual beings." She continues, "My definition of sexuality is really about our need to know and be known, to love and be loved, our longing for intimacy and be connected with the other." That's an incredibly vague definition, but things really go downhill from there...

She talks about our "social sexuality-not just the act of sex... there are multiple ways we love God and give our worship to Him, just as there are multiple ways we can love others, and that's the expression of our sexuality... rather than limiting it to one aspect of who we are. But it's very hard to engage in the depth of relationship that, I think, God has for us, unless we broaden our understanding of sexuality." Huh? So sexuality, as we've always understood it, is too narrow a definition, and once we fundamentally change the meaning of it (or "broaden our understanding") we'll really have it figured out? How about if we look to God's Word for the correct definition of who we are and what "sexuality" is?

Hirsch says a bunch of other confusing things about needing to "have a conversation" in "our communities" that requires "vulnerability" but then gets to this:

"I fear that our boundaries and our fear is actually stopping us from being the people that God has called us to be."

It's hard to know what "boundaries" and "fears" she's talking about, but if we look around at the world of modern Evangelicalism, we see a sex-obsessed, divorce-loving, marriage-destroying, pornographic train wreck of a sub-culture.

Maybe a "lack of boundaries" isn't the problem?

HERE is a thorough (and thoughtful) review of this book.

Message to Gateway: HE IS RISEN - not "it" is risen

Good Friday is a time to for churches to preach how Christ was lifted up on the cross so that people may know that are forgiven of their sins. Resurrection Sunday is a time for churches to proclaim "He is risen indeeed".

But for some reason, Gateway Church decided to advertise their Easter with this tasteless erectile dysfunction ad spoof.

Do you have a sick "personal relationship" with Jesus like this?

This is what happens when people take their personal experiences and IHOP's false Bridal Paradigm too far. This is Brandon Barthrop from Red Letter Ministries (RLM) who holds his church services in a former crackhouse in Minnesota. (You can hear his wife Penny in the background.)

(Warning: MA - explicit language and disturbing sexual references.)

This is Barthrop's excuse for the above video:

WARNING! This video is a parable! NOT to be taken literally. The language in this video is symbolic! Glory! Having spiritual sex with Jesus should be just as normal to Christians as breathing, since we are 1 spirit. Intimacy has been so religiousized by demons, so let us break the barriers into the reality of what intimacy is: sexual union. The entire bridal paradigm and the mystery of marriage and consummation etc. that is in the natural is all symbolic of the ultimate union with God. Sex between a man and women in the marriage covenant is the physical manifestation of the spiritual marriage and spiritual sex between the Christian and their Lord. Glory! Orgasmic glory is here to stay as the Lord will never issue us a divorce certificate! Hallelujah! For more orgasmic glory visit Red Letter Ministries online garden: http://RedLetterMin.com/”"

Dating Naked??

The Journey Church in Queens, NY has a great marketing gimmick to help draw people to "church", they're starting a new series called Dating Naked and they've sent out marketing flyers to homes and apartments near their "church" to let everyone know. That purposefully shocking title will be sure to attract people to their "church." As long as grabbing attention at any cost is the new evangelism, why not just pull out all the stops? "Preaching Naked" Come on Pastor, it's for Jesus!

Want to Grow Your Church? Advertise Sex.

Here is yet another example of a church that believes that in order to grow they have to take out billboard advertising with a provocative and controversial message.

This is not original or innovative. It's getting old. For more examples of this spend time perusing the "Christian Erotica" wing of the Museum of Idolatry.
