Can You Spot the Easter Paganism?
/To those who claim that Easter is a pagan holiday and that true Christians cannot celebrate it, I have a simple question:
Can you identify the paganism in my church's upcoming church service celebrating Christ's bodily resurrection from the grave?
Here's what we're going to be doing.
I will proclaim, "He is Risen!"
the congregation will respond, "He is risen indeed, hallelujah!"
We will confess our sins and hear Christ's forgiveness
We will sing three hymns during the course of the service:
We will read Psalm 118:15–29 responsively
Three passages of scripture will be read
Exodus 15:1–11
1 Corinthians 5:6b–8
John 20:1–18
I will preach on Jesus' victorious bodily resurrection from the grave while exegeting John 20:1–18.
We will receive the Lord's Supper
We will pray as a congregation for our nation, the church and the sick and needy in our community.
We will receive the Lord's Benediction
Please tell me which part of this church service is the "pagan" part?
