What if You're the Sneaky Squid? Jennifer LeClaire's Advice for Failed Prophets

Jennifer LeClaire Senior Editor of Charisma Magazine wrote about the Sneaky Squid Spirit, which was also covered in this blog. What happens if you end up being a Sneaky Squid Spirit? What if you are a failed prophet who totally bamboozles someone with a false prophecy? LeClaire took some time on Facebook to give her "sage" wisdom.

If anyone is going to be an expert on false prophecy it's certainly someone like LeClaire who invents ridiculous things like the "Sneaky Squid Spirit." LeClaire is an expert regarding false prophecy, in fact, she does it really well. In this video she tells people who invented things in their head ("prophetic words") to ask the Holy Spirit to give them guidance when their prophetic words are false, but she doesn't direct them to God's Word for truth, instead she tells them to go back into their faulty and cloudy minds to hear from God.

LeClaire tells false prophets to repent, and that's good advice, but only partially. Scripture is very clear on prophets. You're either an accurate prophet, or you're a false prophet. There are no Bible verses encouraging anyone to give false prophetic words over and over until you eventually get it right.

But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or[f] who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.’ And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.
— Deut 18: 20-22
“For God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.”

                                                                                                                                                                   — 1 Corinthians 14: 33

“An appalling and horrible thing has happened in the land: the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule at their direction; my people love to have it so, but what will you do when the end comes?”

                                                                                                                                                                       — Jeremiah 5: 30-31

“And her prophets have smeared whitewash for them, seeing false visions and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ when the Lord has not spoken.”

                                                                                                                                                                              — Ezekiel 22: 28

“Your prophets have seen for you false and deceptive visions; they have not exposed your iniquity
to restore your fortunes, but have seen for you oracles that are false and misleading.”

                                                                                                                                                                   — Lamentations 2: 14

“For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.”

                                                                                                                                                                             — Matthew 24: 24

If you give a false prophecy you simply need to repent, and stop it. Don't take the "sage wisdom" of someone like LeClaire, even if she is the Senior Editor of a magazine. Take it straight from scripture. If you fail at prophecy, then you're simply a false prophet.
